Last week Bhc at Anything They Say tapped Hot Potato Mash as one of his top five, less traveled, THINKING BLOGS. This is akin to Albert Einstein praising a high school student for his volcano science project that erupts on demand. Or Barry Bonds praising a t-baller for his sweet swing. Or Dick Cheney praising a common criminal for his evil ways. Or...
The point being, I know of no smarter blog than Anything They Say. The THINKING BLOGGER AWARDS were tailored made for Bhc. And if you don't believe me, just check out this incredible post from last week.
Nonetheless, my sincere thanks to Bhc for bestowing this honor upon me and for his kind words including, “Hotpotatomash is my go to source for video snips and mash ups and some biting commentary on the state of the media and our corrupt political class.” Ahh-shucks! Frankly, this means much more to me than being chosen the 2006 Time Magazine Person Of The Year.
In any case, without further ado, I present my five must see blogs that make me think:
1. Anything They Say. Hey, after Scooter Libby and seven years of the Bushies I feel no obligation to stay within the rules and nominate five new blogs.
2. The Existentialist Cowboy is as smart as they come and Len Hart has a wholly unique and engaging way of presenting information that makes reading his blog almost as much fun as it is informative. Like Bhc, Len makes a habit of producing mind blowing posts like Bush is on a mission from God, The Pro-Gun Mythology: a Culture of Guns, Death and Violence and yesterday's The Pure Pork Gravy Train.
3. Paulitics: Paul's Socialist Investigations. While Paulitics was recently honored with a Thinking Blogger Award making this choice a bit redundant, I could not rightfully preclude it from my short list. Every Paulitics post will make you think and yearn for the next one. I only wish the posts came more regularly which might be asking a lot considering their quality.
4. VLOG - FLUX. Flux-Rostrum is an incredible video blogger who writes, produces, films and edits some of the best high quality original political video content on the Internet. I recently posted about Flux-Rostrum's latest project, The NOmadjik Bus, here.
5. The Daily Background. Despite the young age of site proprietor Arlen Parsa, The Daily Background offers up an excellent mix of news, original reporting and videos. And Parsa is the definition of “good people”.

Haha, Gosh, thanks. Nice new site design by the way.

Thanks for the kind words. You've given me a new goal--living up to the standards you describe. And, on that topic, keep up the great work. Hot Potato Mash is among the blog's creme de la creme. Keep on doing some of the most incisive writing on the internet.

Wow, thanks for your kind words.
You're absolutely right though, I am guilty as charged with regards to not posting enough these days. Before the summer started, I was posting an average of 1 post every other day. Now I'm down to less than 1 per week.
Now that I'm more or less settled in to my new apartment, I hope to get my post rate back up again.
Anyway, thanks again for the award and your kind words. I'm just getting around now to going over some of your old posts and I think you've got yourself a great blog here, I enjoy it a lot.
Cheers,
Paul
