What do you say to people who believe global warming is b.s. or not the result of man made activity? How is it that society allows such a belief? With the stakes so high and the evidence so compelling, is it not a morally reprehensible belief? For that matter, is not condemning these people for endangering lives and the future of mankind similarly an ethically questionable stance? How do we hope to effect change when we refuse to confront the irrational whose beliefs lend enough support to the Bush administration's Big Oil (Exxon) approach to the environment that six years after taking office we have taken no measures to combat the massive problem? Has society become so meek that we always choose the easy, non-confrontal, road. Will you feel even an inkling of guilt the next time 5,000 people die in a freak storm somewhere in the world?
This Saturday Night Live video is very good. And while I have not heard anything about chipmunks, I do recall Bob Woodward reporting that Bush was too busy telling fart jokes with Karl Rove to try to repair the frayed relationship between Condi and Rummy.
So sad and so true. This better be one of the top priority investigations when the new Congress begins. Hell, there may already be enough evidence to convict Dick Cheney in a regular court of law and we don't know the half of it.
