Election integrity expert and author of Fooled Again, Mark Crispin Miller, made some remarkable comments while speaking to the LA Election Protection Task Force last night. Robert Carillo Cohen, producer of Hacking Democracy, was also a featured speaker at the event.
After covering some preliminary matters, Miller retold the story of his post 2004 election encounter with John Kerry when the Democratic candidate admitted that he believed the presidential election was stolen. This shouldn't surprise anyone since, as Miller states:
And believe me, a cursory study of the evidence makes it abundantly clear that the election was stolen and it wasn't even that close.
Which ultimately leads Miller to conclude that Kerry is in denial:
Because if you really do accept what happened, you realize that it is a catastrophe, it's an emergency. And it's something that a guy like John Kerry or Al Gore is simply not built to deal with, right? Because if you come to terms with what went down, you realize that it is an attack on American democracy. Business as usual can't simply continue. We gotta do something. We gotta hit the barricades.
But resistance to the idea that American democracy is under attack goes far beyond Kerry and Gore. Miller believes the way to break through this resistance is to:
keep publicizing, to keep spreading the word, to keep making clear that it is not just this little thing here or that little thing there, we're talking about a fringe movement that has taken over the Republican party that has been dismantling democracy, that has been destroying the voting system on every conceivable front, not just the machines. They are even messing with the census. They are preventing another census from being taken because if you have census data you can track this stuff more easily.
Finally, Miller concludes by going over a 12-step approach to reforming our elections.

University of Pennsylvania professor Steve Freeman, author of the important book, “Was The 2004 Presidential Election Stolen?: Exit Polls, Election Fraud, and the Official Count”, sat down with BRAD BLOG at the 2nd Annual National Latino Congreso in Los Angeles on Friday. Below is our interview broken down into five easy viewing segments.
Who won the 2004 presidential election?
The short answer is John Kerry. Professor Freeman explains that while the official vote count gave George W. Bush a narrow margin of victory in Ohio of 120,000 votes and a slim electoral win, exit poll data indicates that Kerry actually won Ohio by 500,000 votes and won the national vote by a 6 million vote margin.
What is the significance of the November 2004 Ukraine exit polls and the 1992 presidential election exit polls?
Professor Freeman: “The incredible irony is that at the same time members of the administration were saying the exit polls indicate fraud in the Ukraine -- undersecretary of state John Tefft was giving testimony saying that exit polls are one of the few reliable measures for showing mass scale election fraud. At the same time, Ed Gillespie, the head of the Republican National Committee, was speaking before the press conference saying that the press should abandon exit polls, they don't work anymore.”
As a professor of business management, did you have any interest in election integrity issues prior to 2004? And what can individuals do to learn about election integrity issues?
Professor Freeman: “It wasn't until 2004 when I really investigated the system and just, absolutely stunned. At first I thought I must not understand this. I looked at electronic voting and I said, well there has to be some safeguard, it can't be this easy to corrupt. But it is. Even worse. If you haven't looked into this it is worse than you can possibly imagine.”
Why do we have voting machines and is there a solution to our election problems?
Professor Freeman: “It is funny to hear myself speak like radical on this issue. I've spent my life starting businesses and teaching in such radical institutions as Harvard Business School system and Wharton. Running businesses, starting businesses and teaching business school students. But when you are talking about privatizing elections you are really giving up the security we have that elections are unfettered and free.”
What can individuals do to help ensure fair elections?
Professor Freeman: “The key fact is that this is not a hypothetical threat. It has happened. Elections have been stolen. Read my book, Read Fitrakis's book, read BRAD BLOG and learn what is happening.”
Congressman Brad Sherman told me last week that he would withdraw his support and name as a co-sponsor of Rush Holt's lousy election reform bill, HR 811, if California Secretary of State Debra Bowen did not support it. She doesn't. Will the Congressman keep his word?
If you are one of the last holdouts who continue to insist that the 2000 presidential election was not stolen you MUST watch the last part of the Dan Rather HD.Net special titled, “The Trouble With Touch Screens”. Part 3 is absolutely devastating with seven whistle-blowers from computer voting company Sequoia Voting Systems going on camera and on the record with claims that all the hanging chad problems in Florida were the result of intentional malfeasance on the part of the company. And the claims are all substantiated with hard evidence. Again, this is an absolute MUST WATCH!
Meanwhile the evidence may be even that the 2004 election was stolen. The latest and greatest shenanigans on the part of the Bushies was the use of tax payer funds and government agencies, such as the Commerce Department, to help boost GOP campaigns. Oh, this also occurred in 2002 and 2006. Surprise, this is illegal.
Speaking of illegal, the destruction of 2004 ballots falls into this category. Unfortunately, there was a sudden wave of inexplicable accidents, from flooding to spilled coffee makers, that have caused the destruction of ballots in 56 of Ohio's 88 counties in 2004.
Conspiracy to commit election fraud also qualifies as illegal.
Of course, Prosecutor-gate is ultimately about stealing elections.

New California Secretary of State Debra Bowen lived up to her campaign pledge and conducted a complete review of voting machines.
And the results are in:
State-sanctioned teams of computer hackers were able to break through the security of virtually every model of California's voting machines and change results or take control of some of the systems' electronic functions, according to a University of California study released Friday.
The researchers “were able to bypass physical and software security in every machine they tested,'' said Secretary of State Debra Bowen, who authorized the ”top to bottom review“ of every voting system certified by the state.
Any comments by the computer experts?
If the testers had had more time, they would have found more flaws, he added.
”The vendors appeared to have designed systems that were not high assurance (of security),“ said Bishop, a recognized expert on computer security. ”The security seems like it was added on.''
