It is quite astonishing that John McCain continues to state that the "fundamentals of our economy are strong" which nobody in their right mind believes. Note what my reliable middle America expert Todd wrote me over the weekend in response to this environmental ad I posted about Sarah Palin:
Listen, as a guy born & raised in Pennsyltucky, I can tell you from experience that voters here are just not moved by shit like that. They need to hear about the economy and how 8 years of Republican rule has shipped their jobs overseas and lined the pockets of wealthy CEOs. The message needs to be populist, not environmental. So I think that ad is counterproductive, at least in PA and OH.
He travelled by Bentley, ate in fine London restaurants and spent his days lounging in a furniture shop. The story of Christian the pet lion - and his eventual release into the wild - is as moving as it is incredible.
The furniture shop was on the King's Road in London. It sold tables, wardrobes, chairs and desks - but anybody peering through its plate-glass window on a Sunday might have noticed something rather more unusual.
Amid all the pine and oak, stretched out languidly on a bench, there was a lion. And it wasn't stuffed.
Heal the Bay’s Coastal Clean up Day is September 15th. It’s from 9 to 12 and if you haven’t done it before, it’s a simple & fun way to help clean up the coastal environment. They give you a glove, a bag and a tally sheet - you walk on the beach, pick up stuff and mark what you’ve collected – that’s it. They keep records and post the info on the news. It’s really overwhelming when you hear the numbers of trash people pick up. They do this in 91 countries but in LA County they have 70 locations where they clean.
I’ll be participating and hope you’ll join. There’s lots of kids that do this too, so spread the word to friends & family.
Give a hoot, don’t pollute, but better yet, let‘s clean up after the folks that do. Wait, that doesn’t sound very enticing. Whatever, someone has to do it or we’d be sitting on billions upon billions of pieces of Styrofoam instead of sand. And by the way, if you still use Styrofoam, you won’t after you participate in this event…trust me.

Let’s take some responsibility for our environment and get off our booties and help!
Fox is not a legitimate news channel. They consistently misrepresent facts, manufacture terror, and slander progressives.
We're fighting back by identifying and calling all of FOX's advertisers. All of them. Particularly local advertisers who probably have no idea the kind of hatred their money is supporting.

This is not a boycott. We are simply calling advertisers and informing them about FOX. And making Bill O'Reilly's life a living hell.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gave one of the great speeches in recent history at Live Earth where he spoke truth to power to our “rotten politicians” who are “nothing more than corporate toadies” for “villainous companies that consistently put their private financial interest ahead of American interest and ahead of the interest of all of humanity.”
RFK jr. also offered a couple of ways to combat the corporations, politicians, “slick public relations firms and their phony think tanks” and “crooked scientists” including getting involved in the political process and boycotting the companies that advertise on programs where the corporate toadies consistently lie about global warming. Specifically, RJK Jr. suggests:
And so I am going to tell you this, that the next time you see John Stossel or Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity --- these flat-earthers, these corporate toadies, lying to you, lying to the American public, and telling you that global warming doesn't exist --- you send an email to their advertisers and tell them that you are not going to buy their products anymore.
This mashup is produced entirely from the July 9th Hannity & Colmes and provides consumers with a list of corporations to avoid as well as evidences a number of typical Sean Hannity lies.
Perhaps the most amazing thing about the neocon led Bush administration is how fucking stupid and shortsighted so many grown and educated men can be. Iraq is merely the most obvious example. I have no doubt that many neocons actually believed American troops would be welcomed with open arms or that Middle East dictatorships would fall to Democracy in domino fashion. The Bush administrations “pro industry” stance on global warming is similarly ridiculous. The Bushies could give a rats ass about global warming and have done everything in its power to stem the calls for regulation in order to further enrich their corporate friends.
Unfortunately, reality has proven the shortsightedness of the Bushies approach once again as record droughts are devastating farms and small businesses throughout the country in what is surely a sign of the times. Bhc has more on this little reported story.
Christine Todd Whitman, President Bush, Rudy Guiliani and anyone else who knew about the hazardous air quality around Ground Zero after 9/11 and lied to New Yorkers, rescue workers and cleanup personnel by stating that the air quality was peachy are murderers. Maybe it took a couple of years of suffering but, make no mistake about it, people are dead today because they breathed hazardous air for days after 9/11 based on the assurances of high ranking Bush administration liars. And but for the lies, a number of 9/11 “heroes” would be alive today.
This being the case, one can understand Whitman's refusal during Congressional hearings to come anywhere near admitting any wrongdoing. To do so would be to admit she was a murderer. She should have to pay for her crimes and won't, but at least with Whitman I kinda get the sense that she understands her culpability and will live the rest of her days guilt ridden.
That said, for the love of god, she has to close shop on the Christine Todd Whitman Excellence in Public Service Series. How can anyone sit on this Board of Governors or fund these programs knowing (and we all know) Whitman's actions directly led to tens, if not, hundreds of deaths, not to mention ruined lives, suffering, destruction of families and harm to society while serving the public interest. Maybe the Excellence in Public Service Series was a good idea at some point, but to even exist for another day with the Whitman name is twisted.
The second half of Rep. Bill Pascrell's (D-NJ) questioning in the video above is excellent.
